17 Girls died when a fire broke out in a dorm in Wiang Pa Pao. Pastor Nipon Luang-gern, president of the Alliance Churches in Thailand reports six of these children were from one Alliance church in Khun Mae Pao.
The fire broke out about 11pm on the first floor. Many of the children who were asleep on the second floor could not escape as the flames devoured the two-story building. Initial investigations indicate that a malfunctioning light bulb ignited the fire
Please pray for the Church and especially for the families of these children. Pastor Nipon is planning to hold a memorial service on Monday, May 30, 2016.
On behalf of the international Alliance family the AWF send a token of love for the bereaved families.

Among the main speakers are Sunder Krishnan. Sunder (on the right) was born into an orthodox Hindu family, studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston. He became a follower of Christ through the ministry of Youth for Christ in New Delhi and became pastor of an Alliance Church in Toronto.
We will also have pastor Edward Awabdeh (left, with his wife Rana) in our midst who leads the Alliance Churches in Syria. All the sixteen Churches are faithfully serving their fellow countrymen with material and spiritual food. Although the war is raging in their country, they experience the presence of God. Come and learn from this pastor in a war-zone.

Today it was confirmed that on September 23, ISIS executed three Syrian Christians. Among them was Dr. Abdulmasih, who was abducted in April.
A video published by Islamic State shows that they were shot in the head. There is no news about Dr. Abdulmasih’s mother who was also taken hostage by IS. Dr. Abdulmasih was not married.
The president of the Alliance Church in Syria, Pastor Edward Awabdeh, describes Abdulmasih as “a great man of God, who took a risk by staying in his village, Tal Jazira in the North-East, to take care of his people and to encourage them in the Lord.” A Bible-study group met in his house.
Pastor Awabdeh adds: “Although it is very difficult and painful for us to see him brutally killed by this barbaric and evil group, yet we are comforted and proud, knowing that these martyrs have entered into glory. The glorious Son of man has ushered them into His presence. They are face to face with their Savior, whom they loved and adored, more alive and joyful than ever before!”.
On behalf of the Global Alliance Family, AWF-President Arie Verduijn has expressed condolences to the Church in Syria. We have been asking you to pray especially for two abducted medical doctors. Keep on praying for the other brother whose whereabouts are unknown to us. May he and others experience God’s presence in a way that surpasses understanding.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Mat.5:10
Last Sunday, during the Church-service in Baghdad, smoke entered the building.
A woman started to shout when she saw fire, people panicked as they thought it was a terrorist attack.
It appeared that it was “only” someone trying to start a fire in the Church-compound and guards were able to extinguish the flames.
But what worries Pastor Joseph is the fear that enters in the mind of the church attendants. They know this kind of thing doesn’t happen by accident, they are a target for terrorists.
He asks AWF sister-churches to pray for protection and inner peace that surpasses understanding. He adds: “You are our partner”. He is right, we are members of the same body of Christ. Let’s stand together against threats and fear among brothers and sisters in Baghdad.
Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
