China Earthquake: “Physical and Spiritual rehabilitation...
January 17, 2011
“The people and churches in Sichuan need help! As a sister-organization of the Alliance in another part of the world, we would appreciate any support from Alliance churches around the world!“

These words come from Rev. Wing Keung LEE who leads the Cornerstone Association (CA), the relief arm of the Alliance Church Union of Hong Kong. CA was established to serve the Chinese kinsmen in mainland China, which has recently been hit by a major catastrophe. In the split of a second almost entire cities were destroyed by an earthquake. According to state media the death toll is expected to exceed 80,000. and more than 5 million people are left homeless.
The Hong Kong Alliance Church was informed that twelve churches, including a seminary, were destroyed or damaged. This figure represents most of the churches in the area.
The government, relief organizations and many volunteers are doing a tremendous job. However, building homes and the rehabilitation of bodies and souls will take years.
Cornerstone Association focuses on re-building, providing subsidies to orphans and widows and supplying physical and spiritual rehabilitation for victims. A parallel objective is to establish a Rehabilitation Center for long term ministry. CA works closely with local churches to encourage them and strengthen their role in society. CA earnestly appeals to support these efforts. You can send your donation to the AWF; please indicate ‘China Relief’. For details bank account see below.
