Unity in Diversity! Imagine a living mosaic, with stones of diverse colors and sizes, in continuous formation, with an unpredictable harmony, unsurpassed in divine beauty and power. This image is what inspired our new AWF logo. Unity in diversity is one of the most beautiful paradoxes of the Christian faith. In the Word, the church is compared to the Body of Christ; a single body held together by distinct parts with distinct functions.
A vibrant part of this diverse Body of Christ and of our worldwide Alliance family is our Arab Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East. Some confuse the term “Arab” with “Muslim,” forgetting that the Church of Christ was born in the Middle East, and still impacts the world for Christ today!
Diversity is what makes Body of Christ so beautiful. But we must ask, where do we see unity in the Body?
1 Corinthians 12:27 says that “If one part [of the Body of Christ] suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” We as the global Church have the opportunity to be the Body when we recognize that we have brothers and sisters that are living in conflict and instability, and we look for ways to unite with them to meet their needs.
For years, our pastors and Alliance leaders in the Middle East have had to deal with constant grief, mental stress, physical exhaustion, and deep soul pain. In addition to the shootings, death, kidnappings, blackmail, and lack of food, water and electricity; their souls also grow heavy and their spirits weak.
Currently, we have 25 pastors and leaders from our Arab churches who want to be trained in handling trauma, in order to be empowered to persevere — struggling, living and dying for our Lord Jesus! And, we have brothers in Christ ready to empower them with information and tools, to embrace them and to encourage them in the Word.
Our hope is to gift these 25 pastors and leaders a week of refreshment and training this October, but we need 18,500 EUROS to make this gift a reality. Would you like to be a part of encouraging our brothers with your prayers, messages of encouragement and financial offerings?
We are a body! These leaders care for so many, and now, we have the opportunity to care for them. Let’s do our part; we have the Lord’s precious promise to make strong the weary and to multiply the strength of the weak. He promises that those who wait on Him will have their strength renewed and will rise up on wings like eagles! Let’s weep with those who weep, trusting in the promises of the Lord! And let’s rejoice with those who rejoice because we know that God’s love is enduring, even in the midst of so much pain!
